  1. Get outside. This may mean different things to you. Maybe just sitting on your front porch, balcony, or in your backyard will do the trick. Just take a few minutes periodically throughout the day to grab some fresh air!
  2. Exercise daily.  This doesn’t mean you need to be running marathons or lifting weights everyday.  Hop outside for a walk around the block, find a new hiking trail nearby, or scope out a path on the beach.  Don’t feel like leaving the house? Do a few push ups, squats, or crunches on your living room floor! Explore online to see what exercise classes are being offered, you can find some even for free!
  3. Drink water!! Staying hydrated can help improve brain and body function.
  4. Reduce caffeine and alcohol. Both of these are dehydrating to the body, and have a stimulating effect which can increase anxiety.
  5. Talk to someone, or start a journal. Writing your thoughts down or saying them out loud can help unload unhealthy burdens.  Consider putting these out into the world, and start and letting go.  You’ll be shocked at how relieving this can feel!
  6. Use essential oils. A great oil to start with would be lavender which helps relax the mind and body.   Other good options to consider are citrus oils, like orange or lemon, which can have an uplifting effect on your mood.
  7. Read a book.  This can be an extremely healthy distraction for the mind, and keeps your brain sharp!
  8. Visit a friend or family member.  It is always nice to connect with a loved one, even from a 6 foot distance!  If you’re not quite comfortable to meet in person just yet, there are countless options for virtual visits.
  9. Take an Epsom salt bath.  Carve out some time for yourself, light a couple of candles, and help your muscles relax!
  10. Smile and laugh throughout the day.  Although it can feel impossible at times, it is such a simple and quick way to lift your spirits!
